Firearms or other weapons of any kind are not permitted within the Dorchester County Circuit Court building unless carried by law enforcement officers entering the building in performance of their official duties. Any weapons identified during screening or at any other time, except those carried by a law enforcement officer in the exercise of their official duties, shall be impounded and retained for use as evidence, and may be forfeited, destroyed, or otherwise disposed of in accordance with law. Any person unlawfully carrying weapons within the Dorchester County Circuit Court building is subject to criminal prosecution.

Masking is no longer required, however, if you are unvaccinated masking is strongly encouraged in order to protect your safety and the safety of others. Please do not come to the Courthouse if: (1) you have been diagnosed with and remain ill with COVID-19 and are within the applicable quarantine period; or (2) have not been fully vaccinated and are aware of having been exposed to a person infected with COVID-19 and are within the applicable quarantine period; or (3) have been advised by a doctor, hospital or local health department to self-quarantine or have been ordered to quarantine.
