Lonise Bias, Mother of Len Bias, to Address Graduates of
Prince George’s County District Court’s Adult Drug Court

UPPER MARLBORO, MARYLAND, August 11, 2017) ‒ The newest graduates of the Prince George’s County District Court Adult Drug Court will hear from Dr. Lonise Bias, Len Bias’ mother, during their graduation ceremony on Tuesday, August 15, at 1 p.m., in Courtroom 264B in the Prince George’s County District Court, 14735 Main Street, Upper Marlboro.

Len Bias’ death in 1986 shocked the nation.  A Prince George’s County native and University of Maryland basketball star, Bias had just been chosen by the Boston Celtics in the NBA draft when he died of a drug overdose.

“We are honored to have Dr. Bias share her story with our graduates and their families,” said Prince George’s County District Judge Joseph L. Wright, the coordinating judge for the District Court’s Adult Drug Court.  “Now, even three decades after her son’s death, her message is vitally important and relevant, and will undoubtedly resonate with these graduates, their families, and their supporters.”

The event will be open and members of the public are invited to attend, but the use of cameras or other recording devices will not be allowed except by the graduates’ families.
