Concept

In this topic, you will navigate to the content management, draft a new article, and submit it for review.


Steps:

  1. Click in the Main Menu field.

  3. Click in the News Publications field.

  4. Click the Search Sections menu.

  5. Click the Search button.

  6. This are the folders available to organize the articles. The Parent Title indicates in which pagelet on the portal will the article in that folder display. For example, articles in the Leave Request folder will display in the Training section. Articles in the Payroll folder will display in the News section.

  7. Select the folder in which you will save the article. Use the CONNECT News folder for the news section and the Training Tips folder for the Education and Training articles.

     

    Click the CONNECT News link.

  8. Click the Add Article button.

  9. Click the *Content Type: drop-down list.

  10. Content Types provide you with the options of:

     

    File Attachment - to create a link to an uploaded file such as a PDF or Word Doc

    Managed Content -  import existing managed content into this folder

    Text or HTML - to write or paste copy with links and images

    Web Site URL - to send users to another webiste page

  11. Notice the Add to Folder shows where the article will be saved.

  12. Most articles in CONNECT are Text/HTML content type.

     

    Click the Text or HTML list item.

  14. The Title will be the link to open the article.

     

    Click in the *Title: field.

     "Timesheet - Pay Period Ending on May 24"
     into the *Title: field.

  16. The Summary is displayed under the title and should give the user a brief idea of what the article covers.

     

    Click in the *Summary: field.

     "Due to the Memorial Day holiday on May 20th, timesheets must be submitted for manager approval by Monday, May 23rd at 12:00om."
     into the *Summary: field.

  18. You may write the article or copy paste from another source. NOTE: when pasting from another source you will need to make adjustements to the copy.

     

    All articles should use the following:

    Font: Verdana

    Size: 14

     

    Click the Message object.

  19. Paste from another source such as Word Document.

     

    Press [Ctrl+V].

  20. Select All copy to make adjustments.

     

    Press [Ctrl+A].

  21. Click the Font menu bar.

  25. Remove any extra spaces.

     

    Click in the Message field.

  28. Use the Save as Draft to continue working on the article at a later time. Saving as draft will not send out notification.

     

    Click the Save as Draft button.

  29. Use the publication breadcrumbs to navigate back to the folder.

     

    Click the CONNECT News link.

  30. Use the column titles to sort content.

  31. Sort the ID column.

  32. Click a second time to change sorting to descending.

  33. Notice the Status is set to Draft.

    The Publish date is defaulted to creation date and the Expiration Date is set a year from creation date.

  34. To access the edit mode click on the Properties link.

     

    And to Delete the article click the Delete button.

  35. Clicking on the Title of an article will provide you with a preview window.

     

    Click the Timesheet - Pay Period Ending on May 24 link.

  36. From the preview window you can review the article and, also, access the Edit Content link to make corrections/edits.

     

    Click the Edit Content link.

  37. Once you complete editing the article and ready for review/approval you will Submit it. This will send out a notification to the approver to review and make any additional edits.

     

    Click the Submit button.

  38. Once the reviwer completes edits the Modify By: will be updated with their name.

  50. Use the Width and Height to adjust the size of the image in the communication.
