In this topic, you will navigate to the content management, draft a new article, and submit it for review.
Steps:
Click in the Main Menu field.
Step 1Click in the Content Management field.
Step 2Click in the News Publications field.
Step 3Click the Search Sections menu.
Step 4Click the Search button.
Step 5This are the folders available to organize the articles. The Parent Title indicates in which pagelet on the portal will the article in that folder display. For example, articles in the Leave Request folder will display in the Training section. Articles in the Payroll folder will display in the News section.
Step 6Select the folder in which you will save the article. Use the CONNECT News folder for the news section and the Training Tips folder for the Education and Training articles.
Click the CONNECT News link.
Step 7Click the Add Article button.
Step 8Click the *Content Type: drop-down list.
Step 9Content Types provide you with the options of:
File Attachment - to create a link to an uploaded file such as a PDF or Word Doc
Managed Content - import existing managed content into this folder
Text or HTML - to write or paste copy with links and images
Web Site URL - to send users to another webiste page
Step 10Notice the Add to Folder shows where the article will be saved.
Step 11Most articles in CONNECT are Text/HTML content type.
Click the Text or HTML list item.
Step 12Click the OK button.
Step 13The Title will be the link to open the article.
Click in the *Title: field.
Step 14The Summary is displayed under the title and should give the user a brief idea of what the article covers.
Click in the *Summary: field.
Step 16You may write the article or copy paste from another source. NOTE: when pasting from another source you will need to make adjustements to the copy.
All articles should use the following:
Font: Verdana
Size: 14
Click the Message object.
Step 18Paste from another source such as Word Document.
Press [Ctrl+V].
Step 19Select All copy to make adjustments.
Press [Ctrl+A].
Step 20Click the Font menu bar.
Step 21Click the Verdana list item.
Step 22Click the Size menu bar.
Step 23Click the 14 list item.
Step 24Remove any extra spaces.
Click in the Message field.
Step 25Press [Backspace].
Step 26Click the vertical scrollbar.
Step 27Use the Save as Draft to continue working on the article at a later time. Saving as draft will not send out notification.
Click the Save as Draft button.
Step 28Use the publication breadcrumbs to navigate back to the folder.
Click the CONNECT News link.
Step 29Use the column titles to sort content.
Step 30Sort the ID column.
Click the ID link.
Step 31Click a second time to change sorting to descending.
Click the ID link.
Step 32Notice the Status is set to Draft.
The Publish date is defaulted to creation date and the Expiration Date is set a year from creation date.
Step 33To access the edit mode click on the Properties link.
And to Delete the article click the Delete button.
Step 34Clicking on the Title of an article will provide you with a preview window.
Click the Timesheet - Pay Period Ending on May 24 link.
Step 35From the preview window you can review the article and, also, access the Edit Content link to make corrections/edits.
Click the Edit Content link.
Step 36Once you complete editing the article and ready for review/approval you will Submit it. This will send out a notification to the approver to review and make any additional edits.
Click the Submit button.
Step 37Once the reviwer completes edits the Modify By: will be updated with their name.
Step 38Click the CONNECT News link.
Step 39You have completed Drafting Communication and Submitting for Review. View the next topic, Publish Communication.
Click the Home link.
Step 40Click the Sign out link.
Step 41Add image to communication
Step 42Click where you want to place the image.
Step 43Click the Image button.
Step 44Click the Browse... button.
Step 45Click the Image Name list item.

Step 49Use the Width and Height to adjust the size of the image in the communication.
