2017 Annual Conflict Resolution Day
Bookmark Art Contest

In observance of National Conflict Resolution Day on October 19, 2017, the Maryland Judiciary’s Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO) is seeking entries for the 12th Annual Conflict Resolution Day Student Art Contest.  The contest is open to all Maryland students in grades K through 8.

2016 Bookmark Contestant

The best 1,000 entries will be displayed at the Judicial College Education and Conference Center (JCECC) in Annapolis, Maryland.  Winning students, with their families, will be invited to an awards ceremony and reception on December 5, 2017 at the JCECC, where The Honorable Mary Ellen Barbera, Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals, will present the awards.  

Categories: Art will be judged in three categories: Kindergarten through Second grades, Third through Fifth grades, and Sixth through Eighth Grades. 

Prizes:  Art submissions will be judged on creativity and message conveyed. The following prizes will be awarded for each category: 
1st Place:  Winner will receive $75.00. 
2nd Place: Winner will receive $50.00.
3rd Place:  Winner will receive $25.00. 

We will also be selecting 6 or more winning entries to print as bookmarks for use in promoting conflict resolution across Maryland.  Winners whose bookmarks are selected for printing will receive copies of their own printed entry.

To Enter:  Submit original artwork using the template provided below, or submit your own artwork with the finished image size being no larger than 3 inches high by 9 inches wide.  Please be sure to label the students artwork.  Use the label provided on the template, or on the back of the entry, if the template is not used. The label should include: the student’s name, age and grade, school or program name if appropriate, teacher’s/parent’s name, email address, and an address where we should send the entry after the contest is complete.  Students who are homeschooled are welcome to participate.

Deadline:       All submissions must be received by Thursday, October 19, 2017
