Traffic Citations
Traffic matters are mainly handled in the District Courts. It your traffic case was elevated to the Circuit Court, please see the below for information on the Installment Payment Agreement for traffic fines.
- A Circuit Court may authorize a Circuit Court clerk to approve an installment plan agreement pursuant to Courts and Judicial Proceedings § 7-504.1
Traffic Violation(s) - Installment Payment Plan
If you are ordered to pay a fine due to a traffic violation, but are unable to pay it in full, you may be eligible for an installment program, per Md. Code, CJ§ 7-504.1.
You must apply for this program by:
- Filling out and submitting form CC-088 - Request for Traffic Violation(s) Installment Payment Plan in the court where you are directed to pay your fines: (Only fines from Circuit Court may be paid in Circuit Court)
- The form will request that you:
- Certify you cannot pay these traffic fines, which are in the minimum of $150.00, excluding court costs, as ordered by the Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court;
- Agree to make ten (10) monthly installment payments of 10% of the total fine amount for each payment;
- Specify the case and citation numbers;
- State whether or not you have previously defaulted on an installation plan for this citation/case number; and
- The form will request that you:
- Inform the clerk if you change your address during the term of the installment payment plan.
The MVA may still suspend your license due to an accumulation of points and/or outstanding fine(s) from other courts.
NOTE: IF YOU FAIL TO PAY AN INSTALLMENT PAYMENT BY THE AGREED UPON DUE DATE OR THE TOTAL FINE WHEN DUE, THE AMOUNT DUE WILL BE REFERRED TO THE MARYLAND CENTRAL COLLECTIONS UNIT (CCU) WHICH MAY RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL COLLECTION FEE OF 17%. IF REFERRED TO CCU, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO MAKE PAYMENTS DIRECTLY TO CCU. THE CIRCUIT COURT WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO ACCEPT YOUR PAYMENT IF REFERRED TO CCU. (11/05/2025)
