Maryland Judges Gather for Statewide Meeting


(ANNAPOLIS, Md. – October 22, 2014) On Thursday and Friday, October 23-24, judges from throughout Maryland will assemble for the statewide meeting of the Maryland Judicial Conference, during which Maryland Court of Appeals Chief Judge Mary Ellen Barbera will deliver her State of the Judiciary. The conference will take place at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Prince George’s County. A range of issues will be explored during the program. The opening remarks and business meeting are open to the media and the public, and registration and event identification badges are required for admission. During the business meeting, there will be an update on Maryland Electronic Courts (MDEC), which just launched October 14 in Anne Arundel County in the District Court, Circuit Court, Court of Special Appeals, and Court of Appeals.

Also during the business meeting, the Maryland Access to Justice Commission will present its fourth annual Access to Justice Awards to: Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Pamela J. White; the Maryland Court Interpreter Program; the Maryland Court of Special Appeals Alternative Dispute Resolution Division; Mary Denise Davis, Chief Attorney of the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Facility, Office of the Public Defender; Maryland House of Delegates Guy J. Guzzone; and the Maryland Legal Services Corporation.
