Anne Arundel County District Court Celebrates Drug/DUI Treatment Court Graduation

(ANNAPOLIS, Md. – May 23, 2013) On Thursday May 30, several people will celebrate their success with family members and friends during the Anne Arundel County District Court Drug and DUI (alcohol) Treatment Court’s graduation. The media is invited to attend.

The rigorous drug and DUI treatment court program combines judicial oversight with intensive treatment and supervision. Judge Thomas Pryal will preside over the graduation ceremony. Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman and Dr. Jinlene Chan, acting health officer for the Anne Arundel County Health Department, are scheduled as keynote speakers. Theodore Brown will be the graduate guest speaker.

Maryland’s first drug treatment court began in Baltimore in 1984, and the program has expanded to include more than 40 drug treatment courts throughout the state. Anne Arundel County’s drug treatment court began in 1996, and the program for DUI infractions was added in 2005.
