Kathy P. Smith,
Clerk of the Circuit Court
An
employee of the circuit court since 1980, her extensive experience in the daily
operations of the court led to her election as Clerk of the Circuit Court in
1998.
Since becoming
Clerk of the Circuit Court, Ms. Smith has served on many committees statewide
that work to benefit the Maryland Judiciary as well as the Circuit Court for
Calvert County. Ms. Smith currently serves as a member of the Conference of
Circuit Court Clerks. She is an active member, and Vice President, of the Maryland
Circuit Court Clerk’s Association. She currently serves as Chair of the
Professional Development Committee, comprised of administrative officials from
both the circuit and District Courts, as a member of the Uniform Reporting Data
Definitions Committee, the Retention Schedule Committee, the Land Record Access
Committee, the Conference of Circuit Court Administrators, the Joint Forms Committee
and the E-License Committee.
Ms. Smith’s
goal is to ensure that her office provides prompt, courteous and accurate information
and the highest quality of service to all who seek the assistance of the Circuit
Court for Calvert County.
Ms. Smith attended
University of Maryland, graduated from Charles County Committee College with
an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement, and received a Certificate in Court
Management from the National Center for State Courts Institute for Court Management
in Williamsburg, Va. She resides in Port Republic with her husband, Eddie, their
son, Neil and their menagerie of pets.
